Metamorphosis Shelf by Sebastian Errazuriz

Sebastian Errazuriz a Chilean designer in collaboration with Horm, created the Metamorphosis shelf. This is a hand carved piece that follows the organic designs of an ivy tracker. The shelf is an attempt by the artist to recreate the old ivy growing in the house he spent his childhood in. At that time together with his brothers they used the thick branches that ran along the wall as a natural platform to storing toys in the garden. This means he was an artist even since his childhood, once he found utility in those decorative ivy branches. Metamorphosis was carved directly on the actual size drawings that the artist made on large wood panels that were developed in Italy with carpenters from the furniture company Horm. The shelf is part of a set of furniture pieces that will be displayed in the exhibition "Beautiful Premonitions" from 28th of April until the 3ed of June at the Cristina Grajales Gallery in New York.
